Write for Us

While S BLOG has its own team of staff writers, we do accept freelance submissions. We typically include one or two freelance stories in each issue.

Why Freelance?

Since our magazine goes out to more than 15,000 students across the city of Lahore and Islamabad, writing for us is a great way to gather clips and experience. We've published articles written by college-student journalists, Student Government advisors, higher-education experts, professional freelancers, as well as some first-time writers.

FAST

imageSOFTEC is an annual 2-day I.T. extravaganza held at FAST National University (FAST-NU), industriously organized and executed by SOFTEC Society (the largest student society of the university). It was first conducted in 1995, and from a national event involving a Software project competition for undergraduate students, it has expanded over the last twelve years into a widely-anticipated all-Asia event, comprising near a dozen events drawing interest from every age group from school-going children to I.T. professionals. Participants in the competitions come from as far away as Kazakhstan and Nepal, and no I.T. industry player chooses to miss this opportunity to reach the tens of thousands of visitors who come each year.
SOFTEC 2008 is scheduled for the 30th and 31st of August, 2008.  Read more...

UCL

imageWe at UCL are laid back and lazy but that doesn’t mean nothing happens here. Our day starts with the usual can of Pakola and ends with a game of Ludo. We take our Ludo way too seriously. On a serious note, UCL has been a host to the Shahjiwana Debating Championship, which is the national biggest debating competition. Universities ranging from Sindh to Peshawar were present and the competition was fierce. The trophy was taken by GCU. Onto sports, other than the usual football matches that the boys play against each other, the girls’ team took the challenge and played twice against LUMS on their turf. The team will hopefully win the next match =)   Read more...
